You have asked a very interesting question, I must say! I’ll answer your question
by quoting the statement published in 1806 when the cocktails were created for the first time. It says, ‘Cocktail is a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters….’
To make the answer simpler, yes my dear you can use any combination you wish to! A cocktail is your imagination, your invention!
The only rule for a cocktail is that it should taste good to the palette of the people for whom you are making it. Here are the recipes to your rescue!
The first one is a combination of cranberry sauce and vodka:
1. Take 450 gms of fresh cranberries, lemon zest and juice (1 lemon), and 5 tbsp vodka and put it into a cooking pan on heat.
2. Let it boil and then simmer the mixture for five minutes, stirring continuously till the
cranberries begin to split.
3. Add 75 gms of castor sugar to the mixture in the pan, stir for a few brisk minutes, and
remove from heat.
4. Let the mixture cool, and serve at room temperature with dinner roast.
Here is another recipe using apple sauce with vodka:
2. Let it boil and simmer the mixture for five minutes, stirring continuously till the apples
soften.
3. Add 75 gms of castor sugar to the softened apple mixture, stir for a few moments, and
remove from heat.
4. Let it cool, and serve at room temperature with dinner roast.
