What could be an ideal diet for a 30+ man to lose some extra pounds?


I felt quite offensive when my girlfriend blatantly asked me to schedule my diet! I understand I am sort of, towards the heavy side, but still I never wanted to confront it. Well whatever, now I am hell bent to start on some healthy diet, to shred some of my weight at least and I need to know about some diet foods, which could help me. At 34 years of age what ideally can be a diet plan, when I spend the major chunk of my day at my workplace? What all factors are needed to be considered before opting for any suitable diet plan? Can anyone suggest?

People who are at their 30s may not have a high capacity to burn the body fat. The body muscles may not be active in them like before. So, they need to follow certain diet and exercise plans to maintain fitness.

Mediterranean diet plan can be a good option. It is based on the food practices of the people living near Mediterranean Sea and is applicable for health freaks. Their diets include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds etc. They contain minimum calories.This diet recommends you to increase the intake of fish and olive oil and decrease the consumption of butter and red meat etc.

DASH diet plan is another option you can opt for to reduce weight. This plan includes low calorie fruits and vegetables. Though it is meant for people who have lower blood pressure, this has been considered to be effective for reducing calories and also good for those who are suffering from diabetics. DASH diet mainly recommends eating nearly 12 servings of fruits in a day which include fiber, vitamins and magnesium.

While U.S Department of Agriculture has introduced a diet plan suitable for people above30 years of age. It is known as My Pyramid Plan. It counts one's age, weight, height etc to schedule a diet chart.

You can choose your food plans using the Weight Watchers point system. Food items are classified according to the caloric value, fiber content and fat. This system allows you to eat foods according to the weight. They conduct meetings and online interactive classes to help the customers.
