Can somebody please elaborate on Japanese cooking utensils?

I want to learn Japanese cooking as my mother-in-law loves Japanese cuisine, and therefore, I am looking for some information about Japanese cooking utensils. I have learnt some basic Japanese recipes; therefore, I would like to know about some such Japanese cooking utensils, which could be utilized for more than 2-3 recipes. Can somebody please elaborate on Japanese cooking utensils, and tell me where can I buy it from online? Thanks.
