Dussehra Feast: Main course for lunch and dinner of Astami

The Eighth day of Dussehra cooking mainly consists of jackfruit curry, spiced curd, eggplant chutney and a mixed vegetable curry. I am going to share with you the recipe of Enchor-er Dalna or Green Jackfruit Curry.

Ingredients

Chopped Jackfruits

Boiled Potatoes

Chili Paste

Coriander Seeds Paste

Cumin Seeds Paste

Turmeric Powder

Allspice Powder

Bay Leaves

Whole cumin Seeds

clarified butter

Oil

salt

1 teaspoon sugar

Method

1. Steam the meaty portions of jackfruit in a vegetable steamer.

2. In oil fry all the pastes and spices for 20 minutes, stirring constantly, until brown.

3. Add water to the fried pastes, followed by boiled jackfruit and potatoes. Stir in salt and sugar.

4. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.

5. In a separate wok heat clarified butter. To it add bay leaves and whole cumin seeds.

6. Pour this over the curry.
