An interesting report on chicken rearing reports that grass-fed chickens or backyard birds tend to be more flavorful and nutritious rather than the poultry bred chickens, which are increasingly becoming susceptible to bird flu. True to an allusion to the grass-fed cattle, which facts provide is less susceptible to disease, low in cholesterol, tender and tastier. Facts provide that grass detoxifies chicken meat, makes it lean and high in omega3 fatty acids, and adds more juices to the meat.

However, leaving chickens in the backyard is inviting similar problems as in case of free-range chickens. It requires somebody to watch chickens all the time. If the whole point is to have grass-fed, nutritional, low-cal, disease free chicken then it is safer enough to depend on local market or a group of enterprising farmers taking on their shoulders the burden to open-up a pasture poultry to feed the whole nation with 'good chicken-meat'.
