Can green tea be considered one of many healthy green drinks?

I have heard that green tea is one of many healthy green drinks and it has endless benefits. I am 2 weeks pregnant, and I want to know if I can consume this tea. I want to take it in hot water so that I don’t put on unnecessary weight during my pregnancy. I think it is one of the healthy ways to reduce the fats in your body. But I am not sure in case of pregnancy, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether I can consume it or not?

Green tea is a healthy green drink which has endless benefits. You can consume it during pregnancy but in moderation. Compared to other drinks, green tea contains lesser amount of caffeine and hence it is highly suitable during pregnancy. Besides its manifold benefits, green tea is an excellent source of both zinc and iron which are of utmost importance during pregnancy. A pregnant woman is advised to drink about 3-4 cups green tea daily as consuming more can be harmful for the baby. You can also try a couple of other herbs which are safe during pregnancy. These include lemon balm, peppermint or raspberry. Each of these herbs has great benefits for both the woman as well as her unborn child. You can even add one of these with your green tea as it tastes great when mixed with these herbs. For avoiding sleeping difficulties at the time of pregnancy, it is advisable to reduce the content of caffeine in green tea by pouring little boiling water over the dry green tea leaves and sieved off just after 30 seconds. Post sieving; prepare it in the usual method. But the most important thing is to consult with your physician prior to consuming any products at the time of pregnancy.
