Consuming salads is one of the healthiest eating habits ever. You can derive several nutrients and antioxidants from eating raw uncooked vegetables that are part of your salad. Every salad has high fiber content. This helps to lower one’s bad cholesterol level and prevents constipation. Eating salad also lowers the risk of being affected by degenerative diseases like cancer or cardio-vascular diseases. You must try to include vegetables like beans, peas, string beans, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, cucumber, onions and lemon juice in your recipes for salads. You can also spike it with fruits like pomegranate, oranges, apples, kiwis and grapes. Salads with sprouts in it are extremely nourishing. Refrain from adding too much of salad dressing in your salad. It will defeat the purpose of having salad for those wanting to lower cholesterol levels or some weight. Stick to a pinch of salt and a little pepper. At most times these spices do the work. Enjoy the rich flavors of the medley of vegetables that goes into making your salad. Try mixing foods of different colors together to get an attractive bowl of salad. if you don’t know what you should be mixing together, just use one vegetable of each food color in the salad. Broccoli is one of the best salad options. All you will need to do is boil two handfuls of it for two minutes or sauté it in a teaspoon of butter for the same time and add it to your salad. Broccoli is called a miracle food so it is definitely a great inclusion to your salad. It is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, folic acid, calcium and fibers.
