Can somebody please help me with info about food for diabetics?


My husband is a huge food-lover, and he loves eating different recipes. However, he has recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I am really worried about his health now! Although the doctor has advised to just regularize his eating habits, and keep his weight under control. Fortunately, he is quite fit of his age; therefore, I now need to know of a few tips on food for diabetics. Can somebody please assist me?

 It is good that you are so concerned about your husbands health, studies suggest that a  a cooperative relative is essential for dealing with diabetes  .Here is a list of do's and don'ts for a type 2 diabetic patient.

Do's 

1. Eat your food at a fixed time everyday

2. Do not over eat

3. Drink lots of fluid in form of juice or water throughout the day

4. Avoid alcohol at all costs

5. Consume more and more onion on every day basis

6. If you are on insulin make sure you have three proper meals a day with light snacks in between.

7. Include fresh vegetable salad in every meal

8. Avoid any kind of fried food and sweet meals

9. make sure the gap between your meals is short

 

Don'ts

1. Avoid consuming salt.

2. Sugar is poison for a diabetic, use sugar free instead.

3. Excessive consumption of fat can be very harmful for your body

4. Replace wheat flour with whole grain

5. If you are a non vegetarian try opting for a vegetarian diet instead

6. Try to switch to products low in fat, milk products like yoghurt are good for diabetic patients

7. do not have more two cups of tea or coffee in a day

8. if you are addicted to caffeine, try switching to herbal tea
