Quality Control: Police snags food products in Southern Huila

try5454The police in the Southern province of Huila have snagged food products, last week worth $46,08000 or 57,000 kwanzas, as they suspected that the food products have crossed the date of expiry. The food products contained soda and tonic water, spaghetti, fruit juice and cheese, maize, wheat flour and vegetables .

The very act of seizure implies that the provincial Government is very careful about quality control of food products. As the consumers, buy the products based on its nutritional qualities, storage qualities, date of manufacture and expiry date, it is very important for the products to stay fresh, lest they invite consumer’s allegations. Secondly, as food choices are getting diverse, exports in the food sector is expanding and hence it is important to maintain strict export quality control, which otherwise might lead to severe problems in the export of a particular food product.
