Hi, the thing you have stated here about the misinformation or misconception around the energy drink Mountain Dew is not a new thing. I find that out from my research on the net. What I have found is in the fall of 1999 a rumor spread around North America that drinking Mountain Dew could lower the male sperm count resulting in impotency. Therefore it could be used as male contraceptive. You have stated that there is no denial as such about this from the manufacturing company PepsiCO. But, I have also found that in that very year Mr. Jonathan Harris, the public affairs manager of that company had denied it by saying "Completely absurd and ridiculous". According to some experts this rumor is caused because of the fact that energy drink like Mountain Dew has greater caffeine content ( 55 mg per 12 oz can) than Coke and Pepsi. Though, caffeine gives energy, still consuming it more than 300 mg per day can cause several physical problems to a common man. Moreover, taking energy drinks is bad for people who have hypertension and blood sugar. But, it is already proved in a report by FDA or Food and Drug Administration of US that caffeine does not cause impotency in men. Moreover, it is helpful in the motility of sperms. So, you can have Mountain Dew without any hesitation. The debate is long resolved. Thank you.
