Can a recipe for cupcakes also be used for cakes?

I have a recipe of cupcakes but now for a change I want to make a cake. I want to know, can a recipe for cupcakes also be used for cakes? What are your views on this and what are the changes you think I should make in the cupcake recipe to make it a cake recipe? I use 2¼ cups of all purpose flour for the cupcakes and 3 teaspoon baking powder. Do I need to proceed in the same manner as I used to?

Yes, off course a recipe of cupcakes can be used for cakes as well. Cakes can be adjusted to whatever size you want while keeping the proportion same. Almost all the recipes that are suitable for a cake can be used to bake cupcakes and vice-verse. It is just that size of cupcakes is much smaller than cakes which make it more efficient for heat conduction; cupcakes bake much faster than cakes because of their size and volume. Those recipes whose ingredients are measured using a standard sized cup (measurements cups) could also be baked in pans; however, they are more commonly baked in tins or cake loads (pans). A standard cupcake will have the same ingredients of cake such as butter, egg, flour and sugar. Though one can add variations by adding nuts, cookies, fruit or colour essence, can make it look more chirpy and colourful.
