Can you give me the recipes of any two German traditional foods?

I am from a German family but I have never been really influenced by the German tradition and culture, as I have studied in the U.S. My grandparents live in Germany and are coming to visit us, so my mother has told me to learn how to cook some traditional German dish, by which they are impressed. Now I am highly confused as I cannot make German food. I want the recipes of any two German traditional dishes that I can follow and then make?

Listed below are the recipes of two traditional German dishes that will impress anyone.

Procedure:

1.Into a large mixing bowl place the steak along with the onions and bay leaves, cover tightly and refrigerate for about 2 days. When ready to cook remove steak from the bowl but reserve the marinade

2.Heat oil in a large saucepan and add the steak. Cook till brown on all side.Add in the marinade and bring to a boil.

3.Then reduce the heat, bring to a simmer and cover with a lid. Let it cook for about 3 1/2 hours or till the meat is tender.

4.Remove from the pan and keep it warm, retaining the liquid.

5.Strain the broth into a measuring cup and add enough water to make it a pint.

6.Pour back into the sauce pan and bring to a boil. Then reduce heat and continue to cook for a further 10 more minutes.Stir in the ginger nuts and sugar and continue simmering for 3 more minutes

7.Slice the steak and place on a serving platter. Garnish with the onions and pour the gravy over the top.

20 ml rose water

15 g icing sugar

Procedure:

1.In a large bowl whisk together the eggs and sugar till thick

2.Add all the other ingredients, other than rose water and icing sugar, one after the other and mix well slowly.

3.Take about 2 table spoons of the dough and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Smooth it with a knife dipped in rosewater. Continue till all the dough has been used up.

4.Bake in an oven preheated at 180C for about 10 to 15 minutes or until they are firm to touch.

5.Remove cookies and leave aside to cool. Then make a frosting by mixing icing sugar and lemon juice and drizzle over the cookies.

Hope you enjoy both the recipes.

All the best.
