How much time gap should be there between the starter and the main course recipe?

I love to have soups in winters as they keep you warm for long and they are also a good appetizer. I have decided to go for a soup in the starter but I don't know what to cook in the main course. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the name of the recipes that I can make in winters. Which is your favorite main course recipe in winters? How much time gap you think is appropriate between the starter and the main course? Do you suggest serving drink with the main course?

Soups are always the best choice if we talk of appetizers. During winters, intake of soups keep you warm and you can have variety of options ranging from pure Vegetarian to Non Vegetarian preparation. While planning a menu for dinner its better if you know the preference of the person or group you would be entertaining. For eg: try knowing whether they are Vegetarians or Non Vegetarians. Next what all they like in Veg (vegetables and fruits) and Non Veg (meat, fish, eggs, red meat). Once you have the idea of the food they eat you can design your menu accordingly. Assuming that you would be inviting veg and non veg both category people, a menu (including my favorite main course recipe) has been given below for your preparation.

1. Starters

a. if the group is a mix of Non veg and Veg category then keep a Hot Tomato Coriander soup and Hot and Sour Chicken soup.

b. Once done with soup you can serve Chicken lollypop and Spinach salad.

Keep a time gap of 45 mins and then serve the dinner.

2. Main Course with Drinks (non veg)

a. Spicy noodles with ground pork and shredded vegetables

b. Panang curry with chicken, asparagus and mushrooms

c. Indian spiced lamb meat loaf

d. Chicken roast

e. Fried rice with eggs and vegetables

f. Assorted breads

g. Thai red curry with shrimp and tofu

h. Red or White wine

Main Course with Drinks (veg)

a. Fresh garden salad with cherry tomatoes, lettuce etc

b. Fried rice with all vegetables

c. Schezwan noodles

d. Assorted breads

e. Cheese enchiladas

f. Thai Green curry

g. Red or White wine

3. Desserts

a. Chocolate brownies with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate syrup

and

b. Chocolate coated litchis

or

c. Caramel pudding
