Experimentation never hurts. It would be a common theme of every competitor to go for the normally stuffed vanilla cakes. However, to stand apart, you can always look for surprising alternatives. You can also search for other recipes and mix them according to your understanding.
You can try this:
18 tablespoons (2 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
6 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
3 cups sugar
8 ounces (about 1 cup) sour cream, at normal temperature
Zest of 1 lemon
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/3 cup cornstarch
pineapple stuff
1 teaspoon baking soda
Cook at a preheated temperature of 350 degrees. Take flour and butter in a 9, 6, 3 inch pan. Cream at a medium speed in a electric mixture. Run it until the constituents look stuffed and fluffy. After this, lower the speed and add the eggs, pineapple stuffs, vanilla, lemon zest, salt, baking soda and cornstarch. Stir until it until it becomes smooth and looks yummy. You can also go for super fining the sugar and adding two or three tablespoons of milk.
Decorate it according to your creativity. The pineapple essence would go well with the right combination of other stuffing. Declare yourself to be the winner if you like yourself. You should be doing really well in the competition if you can pull off this recipe.
