Can I use vegetable oil in place of peanut oil in Chinese white sauce recipe?

I am making steamed mix vegetable and my daughter asked me to cook Chinese white sauce with it. I have never made white sauce and that’s why I was reading the white sauce recipe in which I came across peanut oil. I don’t have peanut oil and I want to know can I use simple vegetable oil in its place? Will it affect the taste of the sauce? Also tell me the reason of using peanut oil in the white sauce recipe?

This is great that you are making steamed mix vegetable. It is a great dish and this is loved by those who just can’t resist Chinese dishes. I would like you to know that you can opt for the option that you are thinking. You can surely use vegetable oil in place of the peanut oil in this Chinese white sauce recipe. Just go for it as you don’t have much time to make arrangement for the peanut oil. Don’t worry as this won't affect the taste of the dish. This is in fact seen that most of the Thai foods make use of the vegetable oils. Any kind of oil would work for this, but the vegetable oil is the nearest alternative that can be used in place of peanut oil. One thing that you really need to make sure is that the oil that you are planning to use must be fresh. It is important to check that the oil hasn’t been sitting in the cupboard for an entire year. You can sense its freshness through smelling it. If the oil smells doubtful, then it is high time that you must get a new one. I hope I have helped you with the matter.
